Last time I checked, wedding is a call to celebration of love by people who love each other to the people they love….but welcome to the 21st century of impassioned individualism.
This soon-to-be groom and father did something….., well you decide if it is cruel or not. Then he went further to report his action on social media, perhaps to receive validation that he did the right thing.
Listen to the 46-year old man,
“My fiancée is a very sophisticated person and has exquisite tastes. She also does not really care for young children and this has created tension between her and my youngest daughter.”
This man has two daughters from previous relationships, the oldest is 18, and the youngest 9; her mother had abandoned her when she was 6. The said fiancée is 39 years old, and does not see eye to eye with her fiancé’s youngest daughter. So it’s not totally surprising she told the man she wanted a child-free wedding, and he gave in.
“It’s going to be a very lavish and expensive wedding. Due to the nature of the wedding and my fiancée’s preferences, our wedding is also going to be child-free. We will, however, be inviting my oldest as she is no longer a child and because, unlike my youngest, her and my fiancée get along well.”
The little girl was unaware that she would not be attending the wedding, and she found out in an unkind manner. Her father’s fiancée was about to take her elder sister to the shopping mall to get her a dress for the wedding, the little girl had wanted to tag along, and it was then her father broke the news to her.
“I explained to her that the wedding was going to be for adults only and that she wouldn’t be attending. She started crying and getting mad which stressed out my fiancée.”
People had some words for this father. “Not only an awful father, but a colossal a**hole. That poor little girl.” Someone wrote.
Another person asked, “Why the hell are you marrying someone who doesn’t like your child?”
Well the story isn’t over, this man’s parents got to know about the situation, and they asked to take the little girl out on the wedding day, but what? The man refused.
“I told them they couldn’t do that, even if they didn’t attend the wedding I wouldn’t let them take my daughter. This has become a bigger conflict than I intended.”
Someone responded to his post, “his parents wanted to take her out but he won’t allow it. So is she meant to stay at home and sweep the floor while waiting for her cruel stepmother to return?”
Another wrote, “It was wrong of you to date this woman given how she feels about and treats your child, who any halfway decent parent would know should be put first.
The 47-year-old man ends with this, “My fiancée and I both think we’re in the right for wanting a child-free wedding, but it appears I may lose my parents from the wedding over this and I want to know if I’m in the right or not.”
