A Hampshire bride rented a classic white Mercedes to convey herself and her team (possibly bridal train) to her wedding venue at the five-star Four Seasons Hotel in Hook, Hampshire on July 20th.
However, things went south as the vintage car began to overheat, and the bonnet suddenly burst into flames. The bride and her train quickly got out of the vehicle, standing by the roadside and watching as the fire on the bonnet spread.
The bride’s grand entry was ruined as she got stuck, many miles from the wedding venue, and she was already running late.
Thankfully, the fire department arrived on time to put out the fire, rescuing the bride and her train. They had to continue their journey in a sturdy, more modern BMW.
Dave Bartlett, the station manager at the nearby Hartley Wintney fire station who came to put out the fire confirmed, “The crew was called out to a vehicle fire at the drive up to the hotel yesterday morning at 11 o’clock. The bride was en route to her wedding, so she was picked up safe and well and taken the rest of the way in a BMW. It certainly added a bit of drama to her big day.”
Though late, the bit of drama did not prevent her from exchanging her vows, as she got married that day without any further hitch.
