In a stunning twist of events, a groom decided to cancel the wedding because of an altercation which revolved around the food served on the wedding day.
The 27-year-old groom identified as Ramakant Patra went to the village of his bride-to-be; Bandhagaon- Sukinda block, with his wedding procession (baraatis). They were warmly received by the bride’s relatives, and after the necessary rites, they were ushered to the dining hall for lunch.
However, while the food was being served, some members of the wedding party complained that there was no lamb mutton in the dish, and demanded that they be served mutton curry. Unfortunately, mutton curry had not been prepared for the feast, and this was explained to the guests, but the home training-deprived guests were dissatisfied.
The wedding procession of the groom was part of the home training-deprived guests, and the baraatis took their dissatisfaction further by openly fighting with the servers and some relatives of the bride’s family.
The scene his baraatis were making attracted the groom, and his baraatis oriented him of the situation, that they wanted to eat mutton curry, but they were told it was not available.
The groom came to a swift decision and called off the wedding, flabbergasting everyone present.
The bride’s family were stunned, and tried to change his mind….but all their pleas fell on deaf ears, as Patra refused to be appeased, but stormed out of the venue with his people.
He left for a relative’s house at Gandhapala village of Kuhika panchayat in Sukinda, and stayed there for the rest of the day. In the evening, he met another woman and married her that very night, and returned to his home.
Well, we wish this outlandish man good luck in his marital endeavours.
