From wedding guests frog-jumping for breaking Covid-19 rules, to a man disguising as a woman to attend ex-girlfriend’s wedding, the weirdest things happen in Uttar Pradesh of India.
Archana, a bride in Jamalpur village in Uttar Pradesh was all set to marry Shivam, a resident of Banshi village. However, the wedding did not hold due to one reason…the bride discovered on the wedding day that the groom had a weak eyesight, and that was just a tip, her family went ahead to register a case against the groom and his family.
Here is how it all started.
Archana and other women in her family noticed that Shivam was wearing spectacles all through the ceremony. They began to speculate on his ability to see without the glasses, and so they handed him a newspaper, and asked him to read it without the spectacles.
The groom could not read the words, and so the bride came to a swift decision. The bride’s father said, “I had no idea that the groom’s eyesight was so weak. My daughter, on knowing the fact, decided to call off the marriage.”
The wedding was cancelled, and the bride’s family asked that the groom’s family return the cash and motorcycle given as dowry, along with all the money they expended for the ceremony. The groom’s family refused, and the bride’s family went ahead to lodge a FIR against the groom and his family. According to the bride’s father, the police have tried to resolve the matter of the dowry between both families, but the groom’s family did not show up.
