Tips To Making a Perfect Maid of Honour Speech On The Wedding Day

August 8, 2017 by Jennace Biggs

As the maid of honour, you are required to make a nice and heartfelt speech on the bride’s wedding day. A speech that the bride and groom as well as everyone in attendance will love and appreciate.

Are you nervous of how your speech would look like and if you’ll be able to draw everyone along with you? The following tips will guide in making a perfect speech on the wedding day.

1. Introduce Yourself
To avoid the wedding guests questioning who you are, start your speech by telling them who you are and how you know the bride.

2. Recognize The Parents and Give Thanks
It’s a great idea to appreciate the Parents for their contribution to the wedding, mostly if they the one hosting the wedding reception. Funding the wedding is a whole lot of money and it will be great to recognize and appreciate them for their efforts.

3. Tell An Awesome Story
Tell an awesome story about the bride and groom. Talk about how you first met the bride and what has drawn you towards her.
Talk about the groom. It would nice if you said a funny story of how you first met the groom. It’s a nice way to make the people laugh.

4. Do Not Let Be About You
Your speech will centre on your time with the bride but do not make it all about yourself. Know that it is her wedding day and you’re making the speech to tell everyone what an awesome couple they are. Do not make yourself the centre of attraction.

5. Make Your Speech Short
Make your speech rich, meaningful, yet concise. The longer your speech, the lesser the contents of your speech, which will get the wedding guests bored.

6. Rehearse Your Speech Before The Wedding Day
You wouldn’t want to start you speech and start to stutter because you’ve not practiced enough before the D day. This will be embarrassing to you as well as the bride and groom considering you’re the maid of honour.
The more you practice before the D day, the more confident you’ll be because you would have learnt your speech word for word.
