The Groom’s Speech: Tips for Making it Perfect

July 25, 2017 by Maryam Leave a Comment

The groom’s speech is meant to be a heartfelt one, talking about the deep love you feel for your bride and how your life has changed since you met her. It is a period where the groom should  give thanks and express his deep feelings of witnessing the most special day of his life.

You have to make those speeches, at the rehearsal dinner and the reception.

Some tips are here to guide you in making a heartfelt toast.

Be Prepared
The groom should be prepared for what you’re going to say to the public before your day. This will make you organized and confident in making your speech. Not being prepared will make you nervous, disorganized and annoying. You might end up offending those you’re meant to appreciate if you do not prepare.

Your Speech is Not a Play
Know that the groom’s speech is not a comedy show where you’ve got to display how funny you are. Of course you have to be a bit funny but try to create a balance between the hilarious lines and the sincere ones.

Thank Your Loved Ones
Take time to appreciate those who have assisted you in one way or the other and stood by you throughout your planning period, in making sure that your wedding comes out as a success.

Add Humuor
Humuor is the best addition to a speech. Same goes with the speech the groom makes.
Your wedding day is filled with a lot of emotions so liven people up and make the wedding guests laugh by telling some amusing jokes and hilarious wedding jokes.

Focus On Your Bride
Remember that the main focus of your wedding is on your bride; which happens to be your future partner. Your wedding is about your relationship with your life partner.

Thank Your Parents/ In-Laws
Thank your Parents for their love and support in bringing you up and working hard towards your successful wedding.
You can also thank the bride’s Parents on her behalf if she doesn’t get the opportunity to do the thanking.

Avoid Foul Language
Prevent the use of foul and distasteful content when making your speech.

Complement The Bride
Tell your life partner how lovely she looks and maintain eye contact with her. This will express your level of sincerity.
