Timelines For Your Wedding Reception

The set-up activities in your wedding reception is essential for the planning of your wedding. This will tell how your wedding day will be like, the start and the end activities for the day.

Creating a wedding reception timeline is very important as part of the wedding planning. However, the type of wedding reception determines how your timeline would be like.

The commonly used traditional format of the wedding ceremony is used in creating the sample wedding reception timeline.

Ceremony and Cocktail Hour
4:00 pm: The ceremony starts
4:45 pm: Ceremony ends and the cocktail hour begins immediately
6:00 pm: The cocktail hour ends and guests move to the reception area.

 

Reception
6:15 pm: The MC introduces the wedding party, the bridal party and the newlyweds.
6;20 pm: The bride and groom takes their first dance upon entrance into the hall or they rather take their seat.
6:25 pm: Welcome speech and blessing
6:30 pm: Dinner service begins
7:00 pm: The MC makes toasts while guests are having dinner.
7:30 pm: Father- daughter dance, mother-son dance and other dances takes place.
7:45 pm: Guests are invited to the dance floor.
8:30 pm: Cake cutting and serving of dessert to guests
9:00 pm: The bride and groom make a thank you speech.
9:15 pm: The tossing of the bouquet
9:45 pm: Announce the last call
9:55 pm: Last song and last dance
10:00 pm: Reception ends, newlywed exits the hall, guests departs and breakdown begins
11:00 pm: Breakdown and clean up complete.

 

TIPS
Have a long and lasting wedding reception
It’s the most memorable day of your life and you wouldn’t want a very short reception. Make a great party that will give time for fun and enjoyment. However, too long reception parties can long and tiring.

 

The toasts and speeches should be lovely and heartfelt.

The speakers should be make it very concise but meaningful.
Work out a schedule of events activities in advance. Your MC should have a knowledge of the activities for the wedding. This will give him a guide on the length of the program and the stated programmed activities.
